What did you learn about motivating employees? What lessons can you take with you as managers and business owners going forward?

Motivation really births into selfishness. Which is not a bad thing, it's just that people need to look at what's important to them before anything else. To me, after studying the "Maslow's Heirarchy" chart, that's what it boils down to.

I think I've learned about just how important it is to keep your employees happy. I mean, surely, I already know this as I am currently a McD's shift manager, but I think I just had a refresher course on the importance of the employee and how they affect a company's growth.
So, give them Ice Cream Cones... everyone loves ice cream cones! :D

I learned that keeping employees happy is very important. If people spend more money to make their employees happy, everything will work out better for them. Happy employees mean better work and respect within the company.

That every employee is different, motivating employees is done different by each company but generally speaking positive reinforcment is better than motivation by fear. Money, recognition, benefits, and belongingness are important motivaters.

One rely important thing about having motivated employees is to make certain they want to be part of the company. Also if the employees don’t get the proper training then they will be frustrated and not want to work which will decrease the productivity.

I learned that people are motivated if they work with people they are friends. They will be more likely to give the extra effort for someone they like instead of someone they just know or dislike.

The best thing you can do is motivate your employees. Without motivation they probably wont do their job as well as you would like. As a business owner or manager, the most important thing for you is to make your employee feel comfortable so they work their hardest.

"Im not gonna do it unless you give me something for doing it." In a nutshell, that what motivation is about, getting something for effort.

I learned what different companies do to motivate their employees and I took some pointers so I attrach the right type of people when I start a company with the same goals I have in mind.

Different people require different ways of motivating them, you can't just use one method on everyone. You can take some of the methods which were mentioned and combine them or use them throughout the company.

Motivation is very important on both sides of the spectrum; employees and employers. For the employees, it gives them much need job satisfaction that makes them want to come into work and do the best they can. For the employers, they will see greater productivity and revenue from their employees thus making them more money, which is a great motivator.

I believe that an individual's motivation varies on their current situation. Motivation can influence the outcome of many things. Wars have been won and lost based on the level of motivation level of the soldiers fighting in it.

I learned that having someone else work with you in a team or partnership; may help provide motivation when your lacking it.

The lesson that I learned from the video was that without motivation in the job place there will be no one willing to work for you or there will be a bad attitude in the air. I also liked the line that the guy used saying "This is not a race, it's a marathon." I think too many businesses see it as a race and that's why they fall out so early. That's quite a good quote to live by and run a business with because if you go all out, you will get burned out, your employees will, and what could have been great will be no more.

I learned that motivating employees is very important in keeping your business going forward and growing. The lessons I could take with me as a manager and business owner are to take the time and spend the money to find the right people that have the same passion and goals.

As a business owner or employer, it is always important to motivate your employees. If your employees aren't motivated nothings ever going to be done. And if nothing is done there wont be any money at the end of it all.

Motivation is the key to encouraging positive employee output. This may include offering employee incentives such as pay raises, health insurance benefits, employee housing, flextime, telecommuting, self-managed work teams, and job sharing.

It seems that at most smaller companies, motivating the employees proves to be more difficult. When you can't sway them with monetary benefits because the business can't afford to, you have to be more creative, and find a way to tend to the employees personal needs.

Motivating employees is really important. It helps keep up the mural of the employees and keeps the managers happy. Incentives definitely keep me motivated, even if it is just a small incentive like movie tickets. My summer job each week they have a newspaper that comes out and it lets us know what is going on in the company and what needs to be improved. In one section of the news letter it is dedicated to employees that are doing well, and it is nice to see your name there and that you are being recognized for your work. As a future business owner I will remember that it is important to give incentives and also give kudos to those who work hard.

Motivation is quite important for a business. You want to make sure you keep your employees happy. If you do this you are liable to keep them for a good while. This is of course good on the employee side, but it is also good on the business side because hiring and training new people can cost far more.

Unfortunately, though it is hard for them to offer incentives and motivate people like the larger corporations do.

I learned it is a better practice to pay your employees better than competitors and offer good benefits because in the long run your business runs more smoothly. You have employees who WANT to work with you, are proud of working there and in most cases feel appreciated and important if their getting paid what they feel they're worth. Currently I'm talking to COX about employment and some of their practices of good motivation besides good pay and benefits are FREE COX services!! I'm praying to GOD to get this job because then I will never have another cable bill for as long as I work there.

I like the fact that the couple referred to their business as a child which is born. I enjoyed seeing how "One Smooth Stone" created cool graphics. The workers seem as if they have a lot of fun.

Motivation is one of the most important factors of employee morale. The core idea behind motivation is acknowledgement. Employees usually want their hard work to be recognized by the higher-ups and not just looking upon as something they're supposed to do anyway. It is not difficult for a company to show its appreciation for the employees that serve as its backbone. At the very least, it shouldn't be.

I learned that unmotivated employees do poor work, and don't care. motivated employees are loyal, harder working, and better team players. Motivation greatly improves production and morale.

I have learned to accept any ideas that will help any company and give them feedback. Setting high goal is another way and rewarding them for their hard work. Have a discussion about the vision for the company. You have to make sure their vision is the same as yours.

Proper motivation is a key to the success of a business. With proper motivation, you can get your employees to constantly and consistently give their best results; thereby increasing the value and quality of their work. Employers who reward their workers with competative wages and other benefits will more than likely see better results from their employees in the long run.
